HOW WE GIVE BACK AT SMIGGLE
At Smiggle, we’re passionate about getting kids excited about school and helping to create a life-long love of learning. We also believe in the power of positivity, encouraging our young fans to believe in themselves, express their individuality and always, always be kind to others.
We take great pride in supporting communities, charities and causes that help families and kids in need. Here’s just some of the brilliant programs Smiggle currently supports. We’d love for you to get involved too!
Dolly’s Dream have created the DigiPledge, a fun online quiz for families to educate themselves about online safety.
With kids spending an increasing amount of time online for things like learning and staying connected with family and friends, the need for parents/carers
and their kids to become educated about online safety has never been more important. The DigiPledge helps to address these issues,
and encourages families to be smart, safe, responsible - and kind - online.
As we enter into a new world of virtual interactions, our mantra at Smiggle of 'where a smile meets a giggle' has never been so important - even online. In alignment with our core values, we want to further educate our teams and our customers on the importance of always being kind.
Our commitment: Continue to support causes in the anti-bullying and kindness space to ensure all kids feel safe and happy at school, home, online and in our stores!
Smiggle funded the cost ($10 per family) for our Retail and Head office team members to take the DigiPledge, with all proceeds going towards supporting the anti-bullying initiatives and programs run by Dolly’s Dream. We aim is to spread awareness about the importance of being safe and kind online throughout the Smiggle community and encouraged our fans to take the DigiPledge with their families, so that together we can take steps to end bullying and build a kinder world for all.
MORE ABOUT DOLLY’S DREAM:
At the beginning of 2018, the country was devastated by the loss of 14-year-old Dolly Everett. Dolly ended her own life after an extended period of bullying and cyber bullying. Established in Dolly’s memory by her parents, Kate and Tick Everett and her sister Meg, Dolly’s Dream acts as a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and works to prevent other precious lives being lost to bullying.
Dolly’s Dream works to educate parents and communities on the issues of bullying and cyber bullying, its devastating effects and how to deal with it. They want to empower people to be able to recognise bullying when it happens and then be brave enough to stand up and talk about it, to speak even if your voice shakes. To safeguard the future of Dolly's Dream and to ensure it operates to its full potential, Kate and Tick Everett choose to work with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation - a national children's charity that Smiggle has been partnering with for the last 2 years Read more

GIVIT is an Australian online charity that connects donors with community organisations to make sure people and communities get exactly what they need, when they need it – whether recovering from a disaster event, or experiencing hardship due to circumstances such as drought, domestic and family violence, homelessness, disability and mental ill health.
GIVIT captures all offers of goods, volunteering and services in their online warehouse, removing the burden on organisations to collect, sort, store and dispose of donations they don’t need. GIVIT allows organisations to focus on delivering their core community service, reducing the significant administrative and financial cost of managing donations and offers of help.
100% of donated funds received by GIVIT to support people in need are used to purchase essential items. GIVIT buys locally wherever possible, to support local businesses. GIVIT’s operational costs are covered by government contracts and corporate partners.
As of February 2021, GIVIT has coordinated the donation of over 3 million items to people in need.

Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again. Camp Quality’s services and programs are created specifically to support children aged up to 15 years, who are dealing with their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love, like a brother, sister, mum or dad. Camp Quality provides kids and their families with fun experiences, trusted information, coping tools and a supportive community; in-hospital, online, at school and away from it all on camps and at their retreats. We have donated $20,000 worth of Smiggle stationery to be included in packs provided to kids in hospital, to help make them smile and giggle.

Box of Hope is a Hong Kong-based charity that donates useful and educational gifts to underprivileged children throughout Asia. The best part of this amazing cause is that it’s children in schools around Hong Kong who prepare, pack and donate the boxes! Through this process, Box of Hope teaches children about the concept of poverty in an easily understandable way, and through the simple act of packing a box and sending it to a child in need.
For more than 20 years, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation has worked to safeguard every child’s basic right to
live free from violence and bullying. As a leading national not-for-profit organisation working to protect our most vulnerable members of
society, our children, they care for kids who have experienced or witnessed serious violence, work to reduce the incidence of bullying,
cyber bullying and other cyber risks, and advocate for the safety and wellbeing of all children.
Since the Foundation started in 1997, they have reached more than 2.5 million children and their families nationwide through their prevention,
advocacy and care programs. Their eSmart Schools program is in close to one third of Australian schools, educating children to be smart, safe
and responsible online. They have supported over 100,000 children in emergency accommodation with Buddy Bags.
Our commitment Smiggle partnered with the Foundation in 2019 to support their life-changing Buddy Bag program.
Each year, the Foundation supplies 10,000 Buddy Bags to the many children who enter emergency accommodation – some who arrive with only the clothes they are wearing. Buddy Bags are backpacks containing basic, essential items that most of us take for granted, such as a toothbrush and teddy bear. These everyday items help restore a sense of safety and security to children when they need it most.
Last year we donated $60,000 of Smiggle product to be added into Buddy Bags – helping to bring a smile and a giggle to the faces of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children. In August 2019 alongside the Foundation, we also rolled out the ‘Be Kind’ campaign by encouraging all Smiggle fans to write a message of support that would be added into Buddy bags. Not only were we inundated with these messages of kindness to be included in the bags, but it also helped start an important conversation around what it means to be kind and how we each can do our part in making the world a kinder place for all.
